The journal Sociological Papers (SP) is published by the Sociological Institute for the Study of Jewish Communities at Bar-Ilan University, co-edited by Prof. Larissa Remennick and Dr. Anna Prashizky. This academic publication, supported by Leon Tamman Foundation since 1992, targets broad audiences interested in Jewish studies in Israel and across the world and is therefore published in English. We now open the Call for Submissionsis for the new double issue (2017-18) that will address multiple issues around Jewish ethnic communities, religion and secularism, Jewish lifecycle rituals, holidays and other traditions, Jewish education, immigration, and more.
SP's publication policy is rather flexible: We prefer original contributions not published or submitted elsewhere, but are ready to consider also revised versions of previously published papers or book chapters, especially when the original publication was in Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, etc. ( not in English)  The submissions should be up to 20-22 pp. long (excluding the references, tables, and appendices), spaced 1.5 lines and meet the manuscript standards of APA.  References in the text should state author(s) and year plus page citation where appropriate (e.g., Forman & Clark, 2004: 135); multiple references should be arranged chronologically, starting from the earlier publication years. The list of references in the end of the manuscript should be arranged alphabetically, citing authors' first names where available. We prefer endnotes to footnotes and both should be kept to a minimum.
Please send us the Abstract and a brief biographic note about the author's academic rank and position, main research fields, significant publications, etc. (not exceeding 100 words). If the Abstract is deemed appropriate, we'll ask to send the full paper. The selection of papers will be made upon completion of the editorial review process, usually within two months
Please e-mail your submissions by the deadline of September 30, 2017 to Dr. Ana Prashizky, academic coordinator of the Institute and Managing Editor of SP at her e-mail address:
